The Perfect Date Night!

You’ve had this date booked for over a week now. You’ve been counting down the days, then hours until it’s here. Finally, the night has arrived. It is Date Night! I don’t mean your typical: two-person date night. No. I’m talking about the DN that is even more exciting (and important) than that. I’m talking about your solo night to yourself. I can’t stress enough just how important it is to spend time alone. To spoil yourself completely. Some people couldn’t think of anything worse than spending half a night alone- let alone a whole, but I will always look forward to my DN with myself. I believe it’s one of the healthiest things: being able to be by yourself- and to enjoy it. If you can’t handle you- how can anyone else?

Let me tell you exactly how my perfect DN goes and then maybe you too will learn to love this night almost as much as a typical one.

Before I even begin my Date with myself, I make sure my phone is on aeroplane mode. Why? So I won’t be distracted at all. No phone calls, no notifications. No distractions from myself. Plus, I can still read the time as I am that person who doesn’t own a wall clock, let alone a watch. If you’re worried people may think you’ve fallen off the edge of the earth- give them a friendly heads up message letting them know your phone will be off for the rest of the night. If it’s a life or death situation (which 99% of the time it won’t be) they always know where you live. Next, it’s time to spoil yourself. Get your favourite take away menu (it doesn’t even have to be unhealthy! There are many restaurants which will organise healthy takeaway if you just ask) and order that dinner! Feel free to either pick it up or have it delivered. There are no rules at all.

Next, make sure you have a movie of your choice (I tend to always go super girly as the boy rarely lets me watch them in his presence) and get it ready for when your dinner comes. Of course, you’ll finish your dinner before the movie ends, so then you can make your own intermission. During intermission, I like to get all my dietary needs seen to. By that, I mean my block of chocolate, mints and chips. Once the movie ends, it’s time to get a little more relaxed. If you have a bath in your house- it’s time to draw one up! Add some bath bombs or even coconut oil if you have no bombs. Grab a book (or magazine) and relax some more. If you’re not a reader, maybe even grab your lappy and watch some TV series. If you’re anything like me, you’ll also want to spoil yourself with a face mask in the bath. If you don’t have any masks, I have some simple recipes on ones you can easily make at home. Just click here (and here) if you’re interested.

After you’ve soaked to you’re liking, its time to get out and spoil your body some more! Grab some body lotion- the nicer smelling the better, and smother yourself. Once again, if you don’t have any lotions- coconut oil Is a life saviour! Usually, after this step, I tend to give my nails some TLC. Hands and feet. I clean them, trim the cuticles, file and then paint them. Usually a nice shade of pink.

Only after all of these things do I then turn my phone off aeroplane mode, and maybe have a scroll of Instagram- and perhaps reply to texts (depending on how late it is) Then, once I’m satisfied with my social media stalking, I get into my covers and call it a night.

Until next time,
xox

Forever counting the days until My next Solo Date Night.
